Love and Loss: Remembering Martyn Bennett in Scotland's Music - Margaret Bennett


Product Description

"Love and Loss" is a three track album in memory of her talented son, who passed away much to early. "Fhir an Fhuilt Dhuinn" is a piobaireachd, composed by Martyn's grandmother to the 17th century piping tune from Padraig Mor MacCrimmon's "Lament for the Children". The CD is completed with the Robert Burns song "Laddie Lie Near Me" and the lament "John MacLeod of Raasay".


(1.) Fhir an fhuilt dhuinn: Traditional melody from Padruig Mòr MacCrimmon’s ‘Cumha na Cloinne’ (Lament for the Children). Verses byPeigi Stuibhart Margaret's  mother. Vocal: Margaret Bennett.

(2.) Laddie Lie Near Me (Robert Burns), Vocal: Margaret Bennett and violin: Martyn Bennett (Arr. M.Bennett, 2000).

(3.) Cumha Iain Gairbh (Lament for John MacLeod of Raasay)— Vocal: Margaret Bennett and pipes and all sound effects: Martyn Bennett (Arr. M.Bennett, 1999).

Proceeds of this CD will endow the Martyn Bennett Memorial Scholarship at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow.
